  1. Hi JB – I just finished “As Nature Made Him,” which was a most interesting book about transgender/transsexual issues. An excellent case study. I’d give it five stars! I’ve started a book on Kindle “Before I Go to Sleep” which Deb recommended highly. Can’t rate because I just started it. I’m also reading “Bullwhip Days: The Slaves Remember” an oral history done under the Roosevelt program (edited by James Mellon) where they were able to interview folks who had been slaves. Most of them are quite elderly, but it’s an excellent study. Recently read “Snoop: What Your Stuff Says” by Sam Gosling. Plowed through it but it wasn’t my bag. I’d give it three stars. Also, recently read Elie Wiesel’s “Night” which I high recommend. 5 Stars. I read two to four books at the same time, but I read very slowly. I like to absorb every word, every phrase. I’m fascinated by holocaust and slavery material. I don’t know why; but then, can you explain why you like sci-fi and fantasy? I don’t know. I think it appeals to my sensitive side and makes me more aware of how various societies have treated people who are somehow different shamefully. –Milt

  2. Awesome. I used to read a lot about genocide and the holocaust when I was an undergrad. I still read some, but definitely not as much. As for my love of fantasy and the paranormal, my therapist definitely has a hypothesis on why I enjoy them so much – a lot has to do with escapism into worlds dramatically different from reality, and with the horror element, confronting/dealing with fictional horrors as my subconscious struggles to deal with real-life horrors. Again, it’s a hypothesis, so maybe not what’s really going on – but definitely makes sense to me. 🙂

    1. I would love to have an article by you for my on-line mag/forum: It would be a great opportunity to explore the current (and past) interest in vampires, zombies, etc., etc., as only you could. After all, you’re the only “expert” on this subject I know. Oh, also, I’d be more than happy to promote your book(s) on my site. If you have a card, send it to me as an attachment to I’m excited about the number of hits my magazine is getting and the quality of articles I’m receiving for publication. I try to weed out everything but the “best,” and I know you can do a fine article for me on this issue. Thanks so much, Milt
